Love God, Love Others, Serve One Other

Missions

We believe that Scripture mandates taking care of the poor and the needy. Southlawn is active in the community through a variety of missions and outreach ministries.

Feeding the Hungry
Six Sundays a year we send a meal team to Broadway Christian Parish to provide lunch for the Sunday Community Dinner, which serves a hot meal to approximately 100 guests, many who are homeless or impoverished.
CROP Walk - Members of Southlawn annually participate in this fund-raising walk-a-thon through the community which supports the local food bank and food pantries as well as providing financial resources to fight hunger overseas. The CROP Walk this year is scheduled for September 28.
Food Pantry - our weekly collection of non-perishable food items supports the food pantry located at Broadway Christian Parish.
Soup Kitchen - loose coins from the offering are donated to the soup kitchen located at First United Methodist Church.

Helping Families both Locally and Nationally
Donovan's Dog - after raising funds to secure a service dog for a teenager with special needs, we continue to support this family with contributions to help with medical and training expenses.
Throughout the year we collect aluminum can tabs to support Ronald McDonald House.
Red Bird Mission - Box Tops for Education, pennies in the offering and other special offerings help support this important mission located in Kentucky.

At Christmas time our community areas are full of activity, providing opportunities to support different organizations during the Holiday season.
Shoe Box Ministry - Hope Ministries
Broadway Christmas Jubilee
The Dollar Tree

UMCOR - Supporting Causes all over the World
When disasters occur we respond through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Direct donations are accepted at any time (please note which disaster you are responding to), and we often organize a fellowship meal with a free will offering as we address each cause.
